At 54 I Am Fitter Than I Have Ever Been In My Life.
I decided to get a Personal Trainer because my weight had ballooned out to an all time high and my blood pressure was at 190/110. Although my blood pressure was a concern, I was really very disappointed at the amount of weight I had steadily put on over about a five year period.
I was most unhappy with my appearance – I had always promised myself that I would never buy anything over a size 12 and here I was breaking my own vow and wearing size 16 tops and 14 bottoms.
With Kieran I lost over 15kgs in a few months, a steady, permanent loss and my blood pressure is down and even my cholesterol dropped.
In my ‘previous’life I was a very sedentary person, I never enjoyed exercise or gyms and I knew that I was going to need somebody beside me motivating and encouraging me along. The change in me has been enormous on so many levels. The most amazing thing is that I love exercising – it’s totally re-energising. You can be feeling very flat and then put in a 30 minute session with Kieran and you’re ready for anything. That was probably one of the most surprising things for me. My fitness level is awesome! At 54 years of age I really believe that I am fitter than I have ever been in my life. It’s an amazing feeling to believe you’re fitter than your children!
I am such a scaredy cat when it comes to anything sporty and have a fear of the ocean but last year Kieran took me surfing to achieve one of my life goals- to ride a wave! I even went snow skiing runs I never thought I could. I was thrilled.
My training sessions with Kieran have been wonderful because I just can’t believe the things I can achieve in a session and I’ve had my ‘doubting Thomas’ moments for sure, but always Kieran is saying I know you can do this Clare and he is always, without fail, right.
I have never had a problem with confidence but when you know you look good and feel good it takes you to a whole other level. Just writing this is sending those little endorphins through my body and making me happy just thinking about it! Imagine how you could feel doing it for real!
If you have been thinking about personal training/weight loss I really urge you to take the next step and just make it happen – it’s up to you – you have to decide – and you know what? YOU CAN DO IT!!

1-on-1 Focus Was Just What I Needed
I was feeling overweight and very self conscious about it. I would see others my age that didn’t have any problems with their weight and felt envious of them. A friend told me it was impossible to get the level of focus required to impact fitness & weight control without the support of a Personal Trainer. That (and the damn mirror) was what made me call Kieran about his Personal Training and Bootcamp.
Even though Bootcamp was in a group Kieran was still able to tailor each exercise to my level and still felt like it gave me that 1-on-1 focus tailored to my situation. It also helped me to push myself much further than I could have on my own and having a firm timetable provided structured discipline (also which I would have had less success with on my own).
I have lost a lot of weight, over 30kgs and my fitness has improved beyond what I thought possible. Not bad for someone who’s almost 60! I feel an order of magnitude better both physically and with my self esteem.

I Achieved Some Unbelivable Results I Didn’t Know I Was Capable Of
Although I’ve always managed to do some form of exercise to keep my weight down, I found as time was going on it was getting harder to maintain.
I had been training at a gym for around 18 months, following the same exact same program day in, day out, that had been written for me when I first joined. I was training hard, however I wasn’t achieving the results I felt I should. Consequently, I was getting bored with it.
As winter approached, I found it increasingly difficult to get out of bed to go to the gym, so decided to sign up with a personal trainer to motivate me and focus on the areas I was struggling with. The personal trainer was Kieran Sernig.
After an initial consultation with Kieran, I signed up for some training each week, and had a new program set out that I was able to manage around my insanely hectic work and family commitments, focussing on the areas we had discussed. He monitored my progress against my original objectives and changed the program regularly. As my objectives changed, so did my program to accommodate them.
Kieran also gave me some deep insight into diet and nutrition and how this further assists in gaining results. After incorporating these principles I was able to watch my body transform, which was both exciting and (even more) encouraging.
During training with Kieran I’ve achieved more than I had ever intended. His approach has always been very professional, respectful and never pushy or intimidating. He is able to pitch the intensity of a session to his client’s individual capabilities and needs.
Out of the blue I was asked if I’d like to take on a twelve week challenge. I achieved some unbelivable results I didn’t know I was capable of in just 12 weeks …and I’ve learnt a lot about myself along the way. Now I’m even competeing in world class body building events. This is something I would never have considered without the support and encouragement of Kieran as my personal trainer.

I Have The Confidence To Do Anything I Desire
When I first started with Beachside Personal Trainers I weighed 71.6 kilos. I knew I was a little overweight but as soon as I took that first photo in my underwear the truth hit that I needed to do this for me not anyone else. The excuses had to stop. Before joining I was quite down about myself about my belly and my weight after having my two beautiful girls.
After working with Kieran for 14 weeks I’m amazed at the results and the goals I have achieved, not only have I lost weight (11.6kg) but I can now run! I’ll be doing my first half marathon (22km) next year and a triathlon. It’s a funny feeling now, when people compliment me and my response now is a positive one. Now I think to myself- “Thanks, I do look good now”. My attitude changed so much and now I have the confidence to anything I desire.
I want to say a big thanks to Kieran. Yes I put in the effort but Kieran motivated and supported me every step of the way, always positive and pushing me forward in the right ways.
I train with a group of other wonderful people who were just like me, others who are just starting and are now like I used to be and all of us have become a family, supporting one another and sharing inspiration.
Taking the leap and starting with Beachside was the best choice I have made for myself and my family. And if think you can’t because you have children, don’t be! Mine are along side me every step of the way at the Beachside sessions and they love it. I’m making healthy choices that they can now follow on with and being an inspiration and role model so my children can live healthy, happy lives.
Yes it can be hard, but so, SO worth it!!

I have achieved many things I never thought possible.
Growing up I was a competitive swimmer, training nearly every morning and night and competing most weekends. I was never overweight and considered myself to be reasonably fit but lacked so much confidence. After getting a full time job and coming back from an overseas holiday I knew it was the right time to start training with Kieran. From the very first bootcamp with Kieran I have not looked back.
Not a single negative word is said during a Beachside training session. Just when you think that you can’t push yourself that extra step a word of encouragement from another Beachsider or Kieran pushes you even further. One of the things that I love about training with such a great group is watching not only myself achieve goals but watching those around me absolutely smash theirs.
Sitting down to write this I have realised just how far I have come. In the year and a half that I have been training at Beachside, my fitness has greatly improved and I have achieved many things I never thought possible. I have completed a 12km fun run and completed three triathlons all within a year of beginning with the Beachside family and have many more bigger and better goals ahead of me. I cannot thank Kieran enough for his help, motivation and inspiration.
