I was an active teenager, however like most teenagers I fought a very negative battle of poor self image. This led to a decade of fad diet after fad diet. My weight ballooning at times to in excess of 130kgs. Everything in my life came down to excuses, I had one for everything…(the ones I’d say out loud) it’s too cold, I have a back injury, I have 3 children, my husband travels away 6 months of the year…  (to the ones I could barely admit to myself (how can I go to a gym looking like this? Do they even make gym clothes in my size, what if I spend the rest of my life like this??).

I had my 3rd baby in August 08, I was huge, I was uncomfortable and I was unhappy. I joined a gym, I did the moves, I lost a few kgs…yay right?? NO. I was 31 for goodness sake. Everything was a battle, I just didn’t have the energy to be the parent I wanted to be, that I knew I could be…that my kids deserved!! So what was I going to do? No really WHAT WAS I GOING TO DO!! Well for the first time in my adult life I was going to do SOMETHING, no more diets, no more pretending at a gym, NO MORE EXCUSES, I was going to find someone to help me be me!

I called Kieran on a Tuesday, he came to my house the very next day. We did a physical test and for once I was not embarrassed about how unfit I was, I didn’t have to hide and I didn’t have to make any excuse, I was stoked to know that it was all up from here. The results came thick and fast, every session I saw fantastic results. I worked hard but I knew if Kieran said I could do it then I could do it! It may not have been pretty and I may not have always enjoyed it but I could do it!

For 6 months I was like a horse with a carrot dangling in front of me on a string, whilst my physical, mental and emotional strength grew so did the sessions, I lost massive kgs. I learnt about myself, I had the physical energy to do the things I had always wanted to do (like running the 10km bridge to Brisbane) but I also had the mental energy to see where I had been and why I had been there, and with Kieran’s help, why I will never have to go back there.

I have had another beautiful daughter since my major results and I’m not saying having a baby was easy on my body, but I was back training with Kieran within 8 weeks of her birth and I am only 5kgs off my goal weight…. a massive 50kgs lighter than my 20’s. I walked my kids to the park today, 8km round trip, not because someone told me too but because I wanted too! And I loved every minute of it!

Why did I let Kieran use my real name on this website? Why did I let him use a full face photo? Because I am real, my story is real, I am not embarrassed for what I was, I am proud of what I have become. Does my story motivate you? Well I hope it does. It’s not that old saying “well if I can do it anyone can” It’s just simply that ANYONE CAN. The rewards for being honest with yourself, for giving up all the excuses are worth it because you are worth it!

It’s you that has to decide to change, no one can do it for you. BUT you do need someone there on your side, fighting right there with you. I can’t begin to thank Kieran for all the help and support he has shown me. His dedication to helping others in phenomenal.

Without him I had the WILL but nothing would have changed because I needed him to show me the WAY!

I Lost 11.7kg In 12 Weeks!

During my 12 week program I lost 11.7kg, but I also gained so much. I made some great friends at Bootcamp, I got stronger, I got faster and I’m now more determined than ever to not give up on my healthy lifestyle. I also understand that it is a ‘lifestyle’ and not just a ‘diet’. What I’ve learned over my time with Kieran will stick with me and help me to reach all of my weight loss and fitness goals in the future.

Kieran’s positive attitude is infectious and he always believes in you, more than you believe in yourself! We’ve had our ups and downs (mainly when I was being a sook) but Kieran never gave up on me and I feel fantastic and I’m happier than I’ve ever been

My Body Fat Is Now Under 25%!

Just after Christmas I realised I was my heaviest, A BMI that almost put me in the obese category. I had a trip to hospital for a suspected heart attack or stroke or blood clot – something scary. I’ll never forget the look on my family’s face when they saw me in hospital with all the things stuck to me, having tests done that a 40 year woman should not have to consider at that age. My kids were were 7 and 2 – what was I thinking? What was I doing? Then I was put on blood pressure tablets.

I have done a few 12 week challenges, including the Michelle Bridges one, and lost some weight myself. Then I went to UK for a couple of weeks and put it all back on. I joined you guys and so it began…. I have never looked back!! I am no longer on the BP tablets, my resting pulse is 52 and this week my scales are reading under 66kg, and my body fat is now under 25%.

This is the challenge I have seen the best results from. During the 12 weeks I lost 57 cm and over 11% of my body weight. The challenge gives you all the information you need to get these results. I have not starved myself, I have not worked out every spare minute. I have made changes based on the information you get through the challenge and I used that knowledge to succeed and become so much more than I thought was possible. Trust Kieran. He has written this challenge from the heart. It is simple, easy to follow and it works!

I am amazed by how far I have come, the friends I have made, the life I now lead in no way compares to what I was. I look healthy and I feel healthy.

Thanks Kieran. You helped this become a reality by never losing faith in the fact that the ability is there, that we just need to find it and believe in it ourselves.

Phew. Feeling a bit emotional now. This new journey is so much better than I could ever have hoped for. Thank-you.

I Watched The Weight Fall Off!

I had been in depression for quite some time. My partner moved away with my kids and I even had to leave my job. I stacked on the weight, hated leaving the house and had no confidence in myself. It was the darkest time in my life. Eventually it came time to do something about it. I called Kieran and was extremely sceptic. He believed I could do all these great things with my fitness and my life in general.

I started doing some sessions and watched the weight fall off. I even started running which I never thought I could do and have completed multiple fun runs which I never even thought of before! Most importantly I have my life back. I am happy and full of confidence. The support Kieran and his whole group gave me was incredible. I’m a completely new person.

20cm off my waistWorking crazy hours can be as much of an excuse as “I’m too tired”, or “I have an injury”. That had been my excuse for the past 3 years. I’d leave for work at 7am most days, and get home between 9pm and 10pm 6 days a week… sometimes 7. After struggling to walk up stairs one evening, I decided then and there I was going to find a Personal Trainer. Being a work-a-holic, I had a lot of pre-requisites for this PT whom I was looking for. I needed someone who could tell me what to do so I didn’t need to think, someone with flexible with availabilities,  someone friendly, motivating and someone who provide me with some variety.

I sent an email and when Kieran replied I knew I had found who I was looking for and wouldn’t look back. Shaking in my dusty Asics, my first PT session was a fitness test.  Oh geez… What is this?! All he had to do was watch me lose my breath walking up the stairs to know I was unfit! After trying my best through my fitness tests it was time for a small workout.  I thought that WAS my workout!

Kieran then asked me, “So what is your GOAL?”  Goal?  What goal?  I need a goal?

I decided to choose between:

  1. Learning to run 5km
  2. Participating in a Triathlon
  3. Strength training and reducing my body fat to 25%

I wasn’t a runner; I fall off my bike more often than I am on it; and if you throw me in the water I’ll drown.  I guess I’ll start with number 1. I did suggest a few other goals, SUMO wrestler, how to be a sloth, however they were somewhat frowned upon.

This was one of the most difficult things I have ever done in my life.  Kieran helped me 100% of the way.  He is a versatile PT who is extremely knowledgeable about everything pertaining to health and fitness. He helped me with correct techniques in lifting weights properly and safely. Some exercises still feel awkward (but I think they’re just made up for a laugh). He was also my “go to Google” person for nutrition tips. I’m still trying to convince Kieran that CHOCOLATE is an important and necessary food group).

Kieran is a huge motivator and I definitely needed some motivation to wake up at 4:30am. Who knew anyone could be this cheery and up beat at 5:00 in the morning. Kieran has a gentle nature is always positive. When times were tough, and yes there were many tough times, he was also there to say “You can do it!”

A few short months down the track, I reached my goal of 25% body fat. I also stripped more than 20cms off my waist! Yay! Goal smashed!

Fitness test repeated and I improved more than I had thought. I tripled my push ups and crunches and increased my plank from 1 minute 20 to over 5 minutes! On top of that I now have a better understanding of fitness and nutrition and overall living a healthier lifestyle.
